NHL is back!

6 Jan

Well, I can not say I am overly excited, but in general here in Canada us Canucks go mental for hockey.

After months and months of negotiations, a lonely mediator was running back and forth throughout the city of Manhattan carrying information between the NHL and the PA. At 4:40am, finally a deal was signed and it looks to be that hockey will back to its regular schedule programming, but of course with fewer games this season.

This interruption has caused a plethora of emotions for the people who really count, the fans. We spend our hard-earned money on merchandise, tickets and special cable channels to support our local teams.

Some people are excited that hockey is back, and others say that they are now going to be boycotting the NHL. Since this is what, the 3rd lockout during Gary Bettman’s reign?, most people are pointing the finger at him for things going south.

I for one would love to see the arenas empty for at least 1 week, I know people will come crawling back, so it is unrealistic to assume us fans will actually take a stand and “strike”.bettman

These memes are simply too funny not to share, I could put them ALL in! But it would jam up the post!

For our team, the Oilers, the future is finally looking good. All of our top players have been playing either in the World Juniors or have been busy playing with the farm team (the Oklahoma City Barons). We have a distinct advantage over a lot of other teams that have not had the chance to play hockey regularly during the lockout. Most of our players WANTED to move to cold ass Alberta and play for the team, they believe this city really shows a lot of heart and truly bleeds copper and blue.

You can read about the crap here on the official NHL website: NHL

I hope that this will be the last lock out, arguing over millions of dollars is a bit ridiculous.

Question: Did this lockout effect you? Will you support the NHL this year?

I’m a die hard book reader so I don’t tend to like it when the show strays…and stray it did, quite far from home!!!
